Invasive Alien Species
The identification invasive alien species (IAS), to eradicate where possible and if not possible stop the spread by taking it out of the cutting regime.
Volunteers, staff, DMLIG project partners & consultants and long with the general public were all encouraged to report areas of IAS on the road network and on Council property. Several sites were identified, with signs deployed to show there was IAS present and not to cut, and relevant staff were informed. All Council sites where Japanese knotweed and giant hogweed were present, were entered into an eradication programme, likewise, DfI Roads were actively managing the Japanese knotweed identified on the road network.
